Monday 21st November 2022
It was lovely to see so many people at church on Sunday as we celebrated Christ the King and marked Enid Barron stepping back from some of her leadership responsibilities. Thank you to all who took part and those who came to the Shared Lunch and contributed some delicious dishes! It was also good to welcome back Jan Clark, my predecessor as Vicar at St Stephen’s. If you missed the service or want to catch up on the interview with Enid and James Barron you can watch it here. There are also some photos on the St Stephen's Hub on Facebook.
The funeral of Geof Johnson is at Church on Tuesday (22nd) at 1pm and all are invited to attend. The family are encouraging us to wear colour rather than traditional mourning clothes.
Next Saturday is our annual Christmas Fair which this year is raising funds for the Grove Missional Community. Please support the event by coming along on the day, delivering the leaflets you were given at church this week and spreading the word amongst friends, neighbours and family members. Both of our MP's and a number of local Councillors are also planning to attend.
Many people have offered to help with the Fair, but we could use some more volunteers. If you can be involved, even for a short time, please let Jane Maffet know on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Next Sunday (27th) we mark the start of Advent which means that Christmas is not too far away. After two years of disruption, we are planning for our usual Christmas services without any restrictions or changes. So:
Sunday 11th December at 6pm Carol Service followed by Mulled Wine
Christmas Eve at 4.30pm Carols, Christingles and Nativity (children please come dressed as a nativity character)
at 11pm Midnight Communion
Christmas Day at 10.30am All Age Celebration and Communion
Have a good week
