Vicar's Update

Monday 6th June 2022

I hope that you have been able to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in some way, whether with friends and neighbours, or just enjoying the wonderful national celebrations.

At St Stephen’s as well as yesterday’s special services, we enjoyed a very special Jubilee Lunch, Jubilee themed Quiz Night and an amazing cake competition.  Thank you to everyone who made these events possible whether cooking, setting up, clearing up or simply coming along – you are all much appreciated.  Thank you particularly to Jane Maffett who worked so hard to organise us all and make sure everything happened so well.

On Tuesday evening (at 8pm) our monthly Prayer Meeting is in church – come and pray for the life of the Church.

The Robinson family will be moving into 26 Drayton Gardens next week.  The house is currently being redecorated ready for their arrival.  Thank you to those who have offered to get the house cleaned and garden tided next weekend.  We have a few volunteers but could do with more so if anyone else has an hour to spare next Sunday (12th) afternoon we would really appreciate your support to wipe down surfaces, clean the windows etc – please do let me know.

We want to reduce the number of disposable cups that we are using at Cafe because. although they are biodegradable, they cannot be put in home compost so are ending up in landfill.  Please remember to bring a reusable cup which not only helps the environment but also the cafe team!

Finally, as our church life returns to ‘normal’ we are still short of volunteers in some areas. I'm so grateful to all those who work hard in different roles but if you are not yet contributing in some way can I ask that you pray about how you might use your gifts to help our church run more smoothly?  For example, sound & vision, cafe, music, young people's work etc.  Please contact me or Caroline to find out more.

Wishing you a great week.

With my love
