Tuesday 14th March
Our Alpha day took place on Saturday. It was a very special time with a number of our guests making commitments to Jesus and all were touched as we prayed for them to be filled with the Spirit. Please do keep praying for all those doing this Alpha.
It was so good to our Archdeacon Catherine with us yesterday. Catherine joined the Area Staff in the middle of the pandemic so is only now getting out to meet people. She continued with our sermon series on the Creed this week looking at the person of Jesus. If you missed out you can catch up here. Dinos Horattides has prepare a helpful note on the history of the Nicene Creed and if you a copy please click here.
Next Sunday we are looking forward to having the Revd Urmila Kurkalang joining us for both services – please do try to be present if you can. Many will remember Urmila being a active member of St Stephen’s before her ordination and it will be great to welcome her, Jonas and Samira back again. Urmila will be continuing our Lent sermon series by looking at what it means to say that We believe in the Holy Spirit....
On Mothering Sunday, we have a full immersion baptism service for a number of people. If you are still to be baptised or wish to re affirm your baptism promises please let us know this week.
Do reminder that every Wednesday during Lent we hold Stations of the Cross at 8pm on Zoom – you can find the log in details on the St Stephen’s app on your smartphone or by asking me.
Our Lent appeal remains open supporting three charities working with those with mental health issues. We are also collecting money to buy Easter Eggs for women at the Marylebone Project. The easiest way to give is by card at church on the touch screen or via the website here. You can of course also give by cash using a yellow gift aid envelope.
With my prayers for a good week.
