Vicar's update 12th OctoberSteve Newbold1

It was so good to have Dave Bookless with us as we marked Climate Sunday. Although Caroline and I were on leave we were able to join you all on the Livestream.  Dave’s challenging and biblical reflection was so helpful and to be reminded that our actions alone can’t save the plant, only God can do that.  So let’s all commit to praying more about the whole issue of climate change and environmental concern. If you are still to catch up you can watch here.

On Sunday (17th October) we continue to think about the environment with a speaker from Tearfund joining us to tell us about their important work across the world.

I am delighted to say that Prayer Ministry will return to our Sunday services from Sunday.  At first it won’t happen every Sunday but for now will be on the third Sunday of each month at the 9am service and the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the 10.30am service.

The advertisement for a new Worship Pastor is still out – please do spread the word with any contacts you have and on social media.

Our Big Clean and Odd job morning will take place on Saturday 30th October from 9.30am to 12noon.  Please let Caroline Jamieson (carolinejamieson@ststephens-ealing.org) know if you can come along – volunteers of all ages and abilities will be very welcome!

Looking ahead we are planning to hold our usual Christmas services and events (of course those plans could have to be changed).  These will start with our Christmas Fair on Saturday 27th November.  Given we are still emerging from the pandemic, the Fair will look and feel  different from previous years with fewer stalls and activities so that we can create more space for people to move around safely.  More details in the coming weeks but for now do keep the date free.

Remember to wear warm clothing to church and also bring a re-useable cup for the Café.

With my love and prayers

Steve
