Vicar's update 6th SeptemberSteve Newbold1

I hope you have had a good summer and managed to get some rest whether you stayed at home or went away.

Yesterday, we had a great start to this new season of church life and it was lovely to see so many people returning to our 9am and 10.30am morning services.  This is now the ongoing pattern and as well as meeting in person, the 10.30 will continue to be livestreamed.  People from both services also enjoyed a picnic lunch together in Cleveland park, in glorious sunshine.

At our services Caroline Newbold spoke from Romans 12, about how everyone of whatever age or experience has something important to contribute to our church life (if you missed it you can watch on our YouTube Channel).  If you would like to volunteer for something new or different in this new season, please get in touch with Caroline or me – we really do need everyone to use their individual gifts in some way.

The pace of change continues this week with many activities resuming after a long break:

  • Next Sunday (12th):
    • the Café returns between the 9am and 10.30am services – the big difference is that we are now asking you to bring your own reusable mug.  This will both help the Café team and enable us to act in a more environmentally friendly way.  For the time being we will be providing tea/coffee and water (no juice or biscuits). There will be disposable cups for those who are visiting or leave their cup at home!
    • JAM (our children’s work) and Youth Group both return during the 10.30am service.
    • we will be sharing Communion at the 10.30am service for the first time since March 2020.  It will follow existing Covid restrictions and take place at the beginning of the service before the children and young people leave for their groups.
  • Shining Stars our mid-week Parent/Carer Toddler Group returns on Tuesday at 10am.
  • Morning Prayer will be said in church on Monday and Friday at 9am (it remains on Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays)
  • First Tuesday Prayers will be in church at 8pm on Tuesday.
  • Mid-week Communion will be celebrated in church on Wednesday at 10am.

Zoom passcodes (where needed) are detailed on the St Stephen’s App – if you still need to download it contact Morgen Edwards (admin@ststephens-ealing.org) for details.

With my love and prayers as we move forward together.

Steve
