Vicar's update 17th MaySteve Newbold1

Yesterday Caroline Newbold kicked off our new sermon series looking at the life of the early church in the book of Acts and encouraged us to take part in Thy Kingdom Come – the ecumenical and global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus and for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  Do join in by praying each day for up to 5 of your family and friends to come to know Jesus for themselves. Also why not try out the prayer walk that has been devised for our local area?  You can do that in person or online - details are here

Next Sunday (23rd) is Pentecost and we will be thinking more about the work of the Holy Spirit and also praying that He would come again and touch each of us afresh.  Join us in person at 9am or online for our 11am Livestream (remember to book your seat for the 9am in person Communion by 3pm each Thursday).

Thank you to all who took part and gave generously in Christian Aid Week.  It was good to see so many people at our Christian Aid Sale on Saturday and the youth did a great job washing cars on Sunday afternoon.   I can also confirm that each of the clergy walked well over 75,000 steps last week to raise funds!

A reminder that our Church Annual Meeting is coming up soon on Wednesday 26th May at 8pm.  At this meeting we will elect 2 Churchwardens and 3 members of the Parochial Church Council.  Nominations for the elected roles are now invited – see our website here.   The documents needed for the meeting are now available here  (please note that we are still awaiting confirmation of the 2020 Accounts from our Independent Examiner, so these - and the relevant part of the Annual Report are still in a draft form).

This coming week we have:

  • Morning Prayer on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am
  • Holy Communion on Wednesday at 11am
  • Alpha on Thursday at 8pm
