Vicar's update 9th FebruarySteve Newbold1

I hope you have had a good weekend and managed to join us for worship on Sunday – whether at the children and youth groups, the 9am Communion or the 11am Livestream.
At our 11am livestream service Rebecca Wall was interviewed about her work in a school during the pandemic.  We also continued our series looking at the ups and downs of life and Sam Sanya spoke to us about staying close to Jesus in the midst of stress.  You can catch up or listen again here.
Last night the Church Council (PCC) agreed a budget for 2021 and also began to think about when and how we should re-open for public worship.  The Leader of the Council has asked that, for now, we do not ‘re-open’ and the PCC agreed that we should review our current arrangements only after the Government have set out when and how the national restrictions are to be lifted.  This will probably mean we introduce a phased return to public worship (rather like last summer) and tie in with the opening up of other areas of society.  We will let you know more in the coming weeks and months.
This Friday (12th) at 7.45 for 8pm we have a fun Quiz Night on Zoom.  All are welcome to take part individually or as part of a small team.  Please contact for the zoom details.
To add a bit of extra interest to your daily exercise, why not try our new 'Winter's Trail', watching for clues as you follow a route round the St Stephen's area.  Click here for more and to download the questions and map.
We are still selling the Thought for the Day booklet as promoted at our Livestream service on Sunday.  You can buy it here.
This week we have as well as our weekly Sunday 11am Livestream service we have:

  • Morning Prayer on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am
  • Holy Communion on Wednesday at 11am
  • Quiz Night on Friday at 8pm
  • JAM – Children’s Groups on Sunday at 9.30am and 10am All of these are on Zoom and if you want the passcodes, do contact me.

With my love and prayers
