Vicar's update 4th NovemberSteve Newbold1

It was good to have our young people help lead the All Age Service yesterday – thank you to them for the joy that they bring to our church family.

During our morning services, we were asked to complete a simple questionnaire as part of our rebranding exercise.  If you were not in church, or want to add to what you have already said please complete the form available here   – it will only take a few minutes but will be really helpful to us as we go forward.

Prayer is so important but can be hard to do on our own.  If you would like some encouragement, our Church Prayer Meeting is tomorrow (Tuesday 5th Nov) at 8pm – come if you can.

Thank you to all who have already returned their financial pledges for 2019.  Please do keep them coming in and return them by next Sunday 10th November at the latest. Thank you in advance for your response.

Remembrance Sunday
is next Sunday, 10th November.  We will hold our usual morning Services with the formal act of remembrance and two minutes silence during the 10.30am service.  Also, at 6.30pm there will be a special reflective evening service on war and peace through poems, prose, prayers and puppetry.

The following Sunday (17th November) at 10.30am is our Baptism and Confirmation Service.  Our Bishop Pete will be with us to baptise, renew the baptism promises and/or confirm fourteen people.  It is going to be a great morning – do come and encourage the candidates.

Jo Leeds (our new Worship Pastor) has produced a worship playlist of the songs that we sing and some new ones that will be introduced in the near future.  This is available on two digital platforms. If you have Spotify listen to the ‘Worship @ St Stephen’s’ playlist or load the YouTube mix onto your smart TV or PC. The playlist will be updated periodically so you can learn the latest songs and be ready to sing your heart out on Sundays!

*Please note you need a subscription to Spotify to listen to each song, but if you click ‘shuffle’ on the playlist you can listen to all songs for free!

Finally, we are looking to replace two school governors.  One is the Bishop’s representative on the Ada Lovelace Governing body and the other the Area Dean’s representative on the Twyford Governing body.  If you are interested please let me know.  An interest in secondary education and a commitment to Church Schools and their character is important.

Have a good week.

Steve
