Vicar's update 28th MaySteve Newbold1 Small

We are now into the period called Thy Kingdom Come – a season of prayer between Ascension & Pentecost for the coming of the Holy Spirit.  Some simple ways to be involved:

  • Pray for five members of your family or friends who don’t yet know Jesus as their Saviour.
  • Come to the Church Prayer Meeting tomorrow (Tuesday at 8pm)
  • Come to Morning Prayer (8am) on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday
  • Pray the Lord’s Prayer every day at 6.10pm (set your mobile phone as a reminder)
  • Fast e.g for a meal, giving up social media, putting the mobile phone away for an hour, switching off the computers for a time, not watching a favourite TV programme
  • Be in church next Sunday – Pentecost - when we shall pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit.
Two other things…
  1.  We still need more people to sign up with the food packing at Haven Green Baptist Church at 10am this Saturday (8th June) - Hand to Hand - helping pack food which will be shipped to places in our world where people suffer from war, famine and disease.  Thank you to those who have already signed up – it will only be for about 1 hour.  It’s a great way to work with other local Christians in doing something really positive – click here to register.
  2. Join us at the Beacon Event in Trafalgar Square on Pentecost Sunday 9th June.  The Bishop of London, Archbishop of Canterbury, Matt Redman, the Kingdom Choir and many others will be present, more details here.  The Leadership Team have decided that instead of our planned evening service we should join in with this big event.  All are welcome to attend – the afternoon family event starts at 12noon.  A church group will meet up at Ealing Broadway Station (by Costas on the platform) at 3pm to travel together in time for the service at 4pm.

Have a good week and remember prayer really does make a difference.
