Vicar's update 14th JanuarySteve Newbold 2017 web2

It was great to see so many people in Church yesterday as we thought about our Vision for the coming year.  If you missed my talk, do listen here.  Next Sunday (20th) we will hear part 2 as Sam Sanya speaks about our outreach and mission.  Youth Alpha also got off to a good start on Sunday afternoon but there is still time for more young people (age 11-18) to join in - speak to Chris Willis.
Thank you to all who gave to our special collections over Christmas.  Over £1,900 plus gift aid was given which is wonderful news.  This will be divided between the work of the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter and Tearfund.
Last autumn many of us made new or revised financial pledges to St Stephen’s.  Now that 2019 has arrived please do ensure that you have adjusted your bank standing order so that your pledge is actually received by the Church.  Thank you.
This coming weekend St Stephen’s are staffing the Ealing Soup Kitchen.  We urgently need more volunteers to help on Saturday (19th Jan) afternoon from 3pm – 5pm.  If you can help please contact Naomi Rattery as soon as possible.
On Sunday (20th) there is an inter Church Unity Service at St Peter’s Ealing at 6.30pm – all are welcome.
We have two important events for men and women next week.  On Thursday 24th January there is an opportunity for men to gather at the Drayton Court Hotel (in The Avenue) at 8pm to strengthen  friendships and pursue God together...with a beer in hand!  Ash Abbott has more information.  Then on Saturday 26th January (9.30am – 11am) there is a Women’s Breakfast with guest speaker the Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin (Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons) - £4 donation on the day.  This is a great opportunity to bring family and friends but do sign up or let Caroline Jamieson know if you are planning to attend so that we can cater appropriately.
I hope you have a good week and look forward to seeing you soon.
