Vicar's update 13th NovemberSteve Newbold 2017 web2

We had a poignant and moving Remembrance Sunday with a particular focus on the centenary of the Armistice in 1918. It was good to welcome some local residents who now live in houses previously occupied by those who were killed in the first World War and whose names were recorded on the old War Memorial.
On Saturday (17th ) we will join with churches around the country in supporting The Big Quiz Night in aid of Tearfund .  It will be a lot of fun and raise money for a good cause.  Come with a team or on your own to join others. Doors open at 7 for a prompt start at 7.45.   If you have booked remember to eat first (though there will be nibbles and cake).  There is still room for more so do email Jane Maffett if you want to book tickets - £10 per person.

Next Sunday (18th) we will be opening our new toilets and meeting room during the Café at 10.15am.  We are really excited to have finally achieved this goal and am sure that you will like the new facilities.  Also on Sunday we welcome Dave Mance from Christian Solidarity Worldwide at our speaker at 9am and 10.30am.
The following Saturday (24th) is our Christmas Bazaar.  This year all the proceeds will be sent to Ealing Christians against Poverty one of our mission partners.  There are lots of ways to be involved and we need lots of help – please do find out on Sunday how you can play your part. If you want to start bringing in items for the Bazaar you can do so from this Sunday (not before please).
Many of us have booked to attend New Wine next summer (27th July – 3rd August 2019).  There are still places and if you book by the end of November you will get the best deal - book here.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has responded to our giving appeal.  If you have made a new or revised financial pledge to St Stephen's for 2019 please do remember to start or update the Standing Order with your bank.  If you are able to make the change in December that would be particularly helpful.

Have a good week.
