Vicar's update 4th April           Steve4to5-3244373775-O

Alleluia – Christ is Risen!  Thank you to all who helped in any way with our Holy Week and Easter Services – we had a  joyful and very special celebration.
By now most of you will have caught up with the news that it has been agreed that Andrew Dand can remain with us for a further year.  This is good news for us all and I am particularly grateful for his help and support at St Stephen’s as I continue to settle into the role of being Area Dean.
Our Church Annual Meeting is coming up.  It will take place on Sunday 17th April at 6.30pm and is an important meeting where we elect various officers of the Church so please do make it a priority to attend.  This year we are trying to cut down on paper and so all of the documents you need will be found on our church website.  As we now have public Wi-Fi in church, rather than print off paper copies for the meeting, you may wish to view them on your smartphone, tablet or laptop.
You will know that Jane Maffett, who has been a Churchwarden for 7 years, will be standing down this year and we need to elect a new Churchwarden.  Jane has done an exceptional job but many of the things that she does are over and above the role of a Warden.  So, if you are fearful that you might not be able to follow in Jane’s footsteps I want to assure you that the job we are asking of you is smaller than the one that Jane currently undertakes.  Churchwardens also work as part of a much bigger team and are well supported in all that they do – speak to me or Geoff Thomas if you are interested in knowing more or are considering standing for election.
A number of our older folk have recently had falls – please pray for their protection and good health in the days ahead.
With my love and prayers

Have a great week.

Steve Newbold,
