Vicar's update 13th Oct Steve4to5-3244373775-O

Every year we ask all members to review their financial giving to St Stephen’s and letters for 2016 are now available – if you haven’t got yours yet it will be in Church ready for you.  Can I ask you to prayerfully respond and if you missed it, listen to the teaching on giving, especially my sermon yesterday which is now available on the church website here.

Thanks to all who attended and helped out with the Women's Breakfast on Saturday - almost 50 people attended and we look forward to the next one in the new year.  The next Men's Breakfast is on Saturday 21st November and more details will be available soon.  Also, well done to all the choppers and stirrers (!) who made Christmas puddings on Sunday afternoon to sell at the bazaar.

On Sunday (25th October) afternoon at 3pm we are holding our termly Welcome Tea for new members.   If you are new to St Stephen’s and have had an invitation please let me know if you can come.  If you are new and haven't received an invitation please do feel free to come as well, just email or phone me this week.

Some schools are already on half term, others start next week.  At the end of the holidays (Sat 31st October) we are holding our children’s Light Party for families with children aged 5-11, an alternative to celebrating Halloween.  It's not only for church families, your children are very welcome to bring friends - please sign up on the church website.  The following day (Sun 1st November) we are holding our annual Memorial Service to remember our departed loved ones.  This is at 3.30pm and followed by tea and cakes.

We are considering organising a Church Pilgrimage to the Holy Land in the autumn of 2017.  The cost will be in the region of £2,000 per person.  If you might be interested, no commitment at this stage, please contact me asap.

Finally, might you be interested in joining our Prayer Ministry Team who pray with others on a Sunday morning?  We are holding an information and training evening on Thursday 12th November at 8pm.  Let me know if you would like to attend.

With my love
