Sunday mornings for Children
Children are the young church of today and enrich our church community - so they are very welcome at St Stephen’s. On a Sunday we offer something for all members of the family.
Here are our regular activities for children and families with children.
All Age Service
Our All Age Service is at 10am on the first Sunday in each month and also on special occasions
This service brings the whole church family together in a service with children in mind.
Children usually take an active part through drama, singing, playing an instrument, or even leading parts of the service. The hymns and worship songs are specially chosen to encourage children to join in.
Cool Christians
Cool Christians, our Sunday School, meets at 10.00am when the main morning service starts. We begin with our own
opening service often based on the week’s theme. This includes a talk from a leader
or a special guest, or an activity.
Next we split into four age-based groups: in each group, the leader follows a common theme based on material from Scripture
Union. We learn about a bible story and join in activities, games and prayers linked to
it. Finally we go into the main church for Communion or a blessing and to join the adults in the final song.
Cool Christians meet each week at 10am in term time, except when there is an All Age Service
Our leaders are all parents at St Stephen’s and fully CRB checked. We have a separate Children’s Advocate who oversees our adherence to the church and diocesean Child Protection policy and processes.
