Children are the young church of today and enrich our church community  - so they are

very welcome at St Stephen’s.  On a Sunday we offer  something for all members of the

family. These are our regular activities for children and families with children:

Family Service – 10am on second Sunday in each month

This service brings the whole church family together in a service with children in mind –

in fact they often take an active part. For example acting in a drama, leading the

prayers, playing in the music group or simply helping the speaker with props – and

ideas!  The hymns and worship songs are specially chosen to encourage children to

sing – or ‘la’– along.

Cool Christians (our own version of Sunday School!)

Every week during term times (except for Family Service days)  we have ‘Cool

Christians’ at 10.00am when the main morning service starts. We begin with our own

opening ‘service’ often based on the week’s theme.  This includes a talk from a leader

or a special guest, or an activity.  Then we learn the last hymn or praise song for the

main service so everyone can join in later.  Next we split into  four age-based

groups:

the youngest    Christians - our Youth Group

In each group, the leader follows a common theme based on material from Scripture

Union.  We learn about a bible story and join in activities, games and prayers linked to

it.  Finally we go into the main church for Communion or a blessing and the final hymn

or praise song. Our leaders are all parents at St Stephen’s and fully CRB checked and

we have a separate Children’s Advocate who oversees the adherence to the church

and diocese Child Protection policy and processes.

Collection - Cool Christians choose a charity once a year, and have a weekly collection, and organise

fund raising activities.  Our current charity is Ealing Soup Kitchen
